Our Story

The property at 2553 Kūhiō Avenue in Waikīkī was initially purchased in 1913 by William Lonomakua Ewaliko, Sr. Originally, it had a two-bedroom, two-story house. With twelve children, Papa – as he was fondly called – wanted to build a house large enough where family could stay if they had no other place to go. After Papa passed away in 1957, one of his daughters, Lilinoe, organized the family to fulfill Papa's vision. The apartment building was built in 1963, and Kukilakila Inc., the family corporation, was formally incorporated in 1988. Today, the property and corporation represent the legacy left by Papa Ewaliko for the benefit of his many descendants.
